Tutoring

Teach in Prison tutors travel weekly to San Quentin to teach Math and English to students working to pass their GEDs. This work has been shown to reduce prison sentences, increase chances of better prison jobs, and reduce recidivism. What does tutoring look like?

  • Carpooling once a week to San Quentin
  • Sitting down with groups of students, reviewing English and Math concepts they are struggling with
  • Assisting the classroom teacher with any questions or issues
  • Attending the weekly DeCal
